Ports operational readiness, safeguarding country’s trade flow maintained: PMO head

TEHRAN- The head of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), along with the chairman of Construction Committee of the parliament, visited ports in the western part of Hormozgan Province, in the south of country, and stressed the necessity of the continued operation of ports, maintaining full operational readiness, and safeguarding the country's trade flow.

According to a report by IRNA from the Ports and Maritime Organization, Mohammad Shakibi-Nasab, referring to the readiness of ports in western Hormozgan Province, stated: "The process of unloading, loading, and the provision of port services continues without interruption."

He added: "The current circumstances will not hinder the ports' ability to serve the people, and the Ports and Maritime Organization's service to the people and the country will continue."

Mohammad Reza Rezaei-Kouchi, the chairman of Construction Committee of the parliament, also emphasized the role of ports in the sustainability of the country's economy during this visit, stating: "Ports are the vital arteries of Iran's trade."

He noted: "What is more important than ever in the current critical situation is maintaining managerial cohesion, operational readiness, and the field presence of officials so that the flow of imports, exports, and port services to the people continues without interruption."

Meanwhile, the head of the Transportation Committee of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture has stated that the exchange of goods at ports and borders is proceeding smoothly, noting that the removal of unnecessary administrative hurdles during wartime has facilitated trade.

Peyman Sanandaji said: With the aim of eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy in the path of smooth goods exchange, significant measures were taken by customs since the start of war, so much so that we are now witnessing a streamlined administrative process for the transfer of goods at ports and borders.

Stating that all borders are currently open and the exchange of goods is ongoing, he added: Cargo and road transport drivers, along with the private sector, have been on the job since the beginning of the war and have done their utmost to date.
